Be-Wiser Project

Be Wiser (Building Enterprises – Wireless and Internet Security in European Regions) is a 36 month project funded under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission. It involves twelve partners from seven European countries and aims to strengthen the research, innovation potential and global competitiveness of European regions by bringing together research actors, enterprises, institutions and policy makers into a collaboration network. Lead partner is Systematic Paris Region.

Within Be Wiser CIT have applied the V-LINC analysis to seven ICT clusters across Europe (Cyprus, France, Germany, Ireland, Slovenia, Spain and the UK) to gain a better understanding of the partner regions and their clusters, which are at varying stages of cluster development. The recommendations aim to optimise the Triple Helix partnerships in each of the regions, and will be an input into the Joint Action Plan which has been co-ordinated and authored by CIT. V-LINC is a new software application developed in the School of Business which maps, visualises and analyses strategic relationship data collected from clustered firms to inform strategy and policy development for the individual organisations involved as well as catering for sectors, clusters and regions. Dr John Hobbs and Eoin Byrne have driven the development of V-LINC in CIT.
